We make research accessible, inspiring the next generation of engineers through activities such as student taster days, engineering summer schools and much more.
We have an outstanding reputation for outreach, making research accessible to different stakeholders, inspiring the next generation of engineers. We engage in a diverse range of events including student taster days, engineering summer schools, media stories and interviews, museum exhibitions, online educational games and learning materials.
We offer residential courses such as Headstart that allow students to get a taste of what our undergraduates do over the course of our popular scenario-based learning. We also strive to involve industry partners in both the design and delivery of our outreach activities to give a flavour of engineering career paths. Due to the nature of the department, we have been particularly successful in promoting diversity in engineering and in setting up outreach activities with a global reach.
