Research project

Title: Optimal design and synthesis of hierarchically structured porous catalyst

Hierarchical porous materials contain a porous structure consisting of multiple levels of porosities on different length scales, which can be used as catalysts or catalyst supports, due to their enhanced mass transport; in addition, progress in materials synthesis open ways to tune the position of active sites and introduce multiple functionalities. The aim of this PhD project is the design of hierarchically structured porous catalysts with optimized activity, selectivity and stability; innovative batch and aerosol-based synthesis methods will be used and the samples will be catalytically tested for practically relevant reactions, including isomerization and alkylation, that allow us to validate the optimization method.
