The IChemE Sustainability Teaching Award
4 November 2015
We just wanted to share the good news that the department has won the inaugural IChemE Sustainability Teaching Award!
Cicely Striolo wrote the department’s submission, which was a team effort focusing on our teaching of sustainability from year one and throughout the programme.
The judges ‘were particularly impressed by the use of scenario based learning in the first year to introduce sustainability principles in the absence of a significant body of chemical engineering knowledge and then building and strengthening these concepts through the course leading up to the design project’.
The award will be made during the IChemE AGM in May 2016, and IChemE’s publication tce will also feature an article about our work in due course.
Congratulations to all who are contributing to this work, in all year groups of our programme, and a particular thank you and well-done to Cicely for writing such an excellent submission.
We believe this is the first Faculty award based on work strongly related to IEP.
