Shade Akinmolayan and The UCell team's work recognised at the Provost's Engineering Engagement Awards

Shade Akinmolayan (winner of the "Academic/Research Staff (Grade 6&7)" category)
The judges said: "Shade works with diverse audiences, always creating opportunities to engage in a meaningful and sustained manner with young people. Her passion, dedication and energy in promoting STEM subjects and engineering is inspiring. She is the UCL Student Society of Women Engineers outreach officer, In2Science mentor, STEMNET Ambassador, STEMette panellist and the lead organiser in the development of a new Chemical Engineering summer school. Shade is a strong role model for young people, especially girls and young women, following the progress of girls interested in science and engineering. She often hosts interactive assemblies for younger students and UCAS talks for older students."
The UCell team (awarded a certificate of excellence in engineering engagement in the "Research Team/Group" category)
The judges said: "The UCell team engagement activities convey an important message
about the research going on at UCL as well as raising awareness on climate change and the role engineers play in protecting our natural environment. From
fuel cell demonstrations, energy discussions at science events, they reach
countless young audiences in the UK and internationally."
