UCL at the Annual SEFI Conference, TU Dublin

Members and associates of the UCL Centre for Engineering Education were out in force representing UCL's engineering education research at the annual SEFI conference this September.

CEE staff at SEFI 2023

The SEFI (European Society for Engineering Education) celebrates its 50th year in 2023 and its annual conference kicked off with the Doctoral symposium. The symposium is heavily supported by the UCL Centre for Engineering Education with members, John Mitchell, Abel Nyamapfene and associates Inês Direito and Shannon Chance acting as facilitators and PhD students Kate Bellingham, Luke Dokter and Zeyi Liu. The full day session provided workshops and support activities for 40 PhD students in Engineering Education Research. 

The 2023 SEFI conference was a full and successful conference for members of the UCL Centre for Engineering Education

Congratulations to CEE Director of Studies and IEP Director, Professor Emanuela Tilley on her election to Vice President of SEFI and CEE Honorary Senior Research Fellow, Dr Inês Direito on her election to the SEFI board.

CEE members and associates presented 14 papers, including two PhD student papers and one MSc Student paper, took part in five workshops, led four SIG (special interest group) sessions and took part of the opening Plenary Panel, as well as presenting the Francesco Maffiolli award, Best Research Paper Award and the Susanne Ihsen Award on Diversity and Inclusiveness.

A packed week and a delight to interact with so many colleagues from across the world in such an excellent conference. Congratulations to SEFI and host TU Dublin on a wonderful event.
