UCL Visit to KTH in Stockholm

15 September 2022

A team from the Centre for Engineering Education and the Engineering Faculty visited KTH in Stockholm.

Dr Fiona Truscott (Integrated Engineering Programme), Dr Abel Nyamapfene (Integrated Engineering Programme/MSc in Engineering and Education), Dr Sophia Economides (Engineering Foundation Year) and Prof Simon Banks (Director of Education and Faculty Tutor) travelled to Sweden to hear about the work of the Department of Learning at KTH Stockholm.

They discussed CDIO (Conceive – Design – Implement – Operate) and sustainability, learned about KTH’s approach to digital learning tools and how they see the future of education. They met a wide range of academic and administrative staff, to discuss the similarities and differences between UCL and KTH.

Of course, there was a lovely tour of their facilities including the forest next door and the Live-In Lab as well as the traditional Swedish fika!

Thank you to Kristina Edström and Arnold Pears for organising the visit and all the KTH members of staff who spoke to them and showed them around. We look forward to welcoming you to UCL soon!

Since its founding in 1827, KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm has grown to become one of Europe’s leading technical and engineering universities. Find out more here.
