Duties and responsibilities

The role will be based at the UK Energy Research Centre, a multi-university research consortium, based at the Bartlett School or Environment, Energy and Resources at University College London. A key role of the UKERC HQ is to maximise UK energy research capacity: promoting equality, diversity and inclusion, building career skills, and aiding cohesion.

UKERC has employed a broad engagement strategy that has proven successful in generating benefits both for UKERC and wider academic energy research. The Engagement Officer will build upon these successes with the objective of encouraging increased collaboration, with more diverse representation, across the UK academic community.

The Engagement Officer will work with the UKERC Director and Co-Directors, UKERC Operations Manager and other Head Quarters team members to build links between UKERC, the broader academic community, industry, policy and non-profit organisations.

The post is funded until 31 March 2024 in the first instance.

Key requirements

Educated to degree level, the successful candidate will have have a good knowledge of the energy system combined with an overall appreciation of the challenges facing the energy sector in the UK and globally. They will have stakeholder engagement experience with excellent interpersonal skills, time management and project management skills. They will be an effective communicator with an ability to communicate confidently and effectively with a range of researchers, policymakers, industrial organisations, and other stakeholders including those at a senior level.
