Makers Manual – Lesson Plan Resources

A free directory of pamphlets and manuals for teachers that can be used as lesson plans, designed to enable students to develop new techniques and practical skills, and inspire an interest in design.

Working collaboratively with STORE STORE and art & design teachers, we have designed a free directory of pamphlets and manuals for teachers from non-selective state schools. These manuals can be used as lesson plans and are designed to enable students to develop new techniques and practical skills, and inspire an interest in design. These will be available soon.

The digitally downloadable Makers Manuals detail how innovative making techniques can be integrated into teaching plans in state schools across the country.

These manuals can help give students in state school art and design education the insights and skills necessary when applying to university or the creative industries. These manuals also aim to help teachers across the country to confidently teach students some of the most innovative and exciting techniques being explored in universities and industry today.

Each manual contains the following:

  • A clear and detailed explanation of how to carry out a particular process
  • How that process can fit into a particular teaching plan
  • A detailed list of all the materials and quantities required and where they can be purchased
  • References for further reading and key vocabulary
  • Possible outcomes and conceptual frameworks for a particular project
  • Detailed descriptions of how each manual meets certain curriculum criteria
