Collaboration with the RSA on pilot project for green cities

IIPP is working with the Royal Society for the Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA) on a pilot project focussed on applying mission-oriented innovation policy to a challenge at city level.

Tackling global challenges.

21 September 2017

IIPP Director, Mariana Mazzucato, has written a paper about the challenges and opportunities for policymakers of a mission-oriented approach to innovation policy, published jointly with the RSAMission-oriented innovation: challenges and opportunities is also available as the first of IIPP's new 'Rethinking the Public' working paper series. Read more about the paper here.

RSA IIPP workshop Alpbach 2017

IIPP and RSA also co-hosted an event at the European Forum Alpbach, Austria, on 28 August 2017.  The IIPP-RSA workshop at the Forum built on Professor Mazzucato’s work on "mission oriented innovation policies", bringing together representatives at the city level interested in how innovation can be used to tackle grand challenges.

European Forum Alpbach is a leading interdisciplinary platform for dialogue in academia, politics, economics and culture in Europe.  It seeks to promote a democratic society equipped to meet future challenges.

The workshop follows a joint IPP / RSA event in February 2017, at which Mariana Mazzucato (IIPP Director), Jeffrey Sachs (Columbia University, IIPP Advisory Board member) and Carlota Perez (Honorary Professor & Advisory Board member, IIPP) discussed the challenges and opportunities for mission-oriented innovation policies in tackling the sustainable development goals.
