This new report finds that British Columbia is facing a set of enormous challenges: the need to recover from a health pandemic and an active climate crisis, while also achieving higher productivity, investment and equitable growth. The author, IIPP Director and economist Professor Mariana Mazzucato, provides recommendations within the report highlighting how British Columbia can achieve economic targets while also tackling social inequalities and creating a sustainable economy by embracing a problem-oriented, cross-sectoral economic strategy. Prof. Mazzucato discussed the rationale and recommendations of the report during the Globe Forum 2022 in a plenary session with Hon. John Horgan, Premier of British Columbia, and Hon. Ravi Kahlon, Minister for Jobs, Economic Recovery and Innovation.
