Katarina Ruvidic

Katarina is a student in the 2022-23 cohort of UCL Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose (IIPP)'s Master of Public Administration (MPA).

Katarina is a young development advocate and former member of the local parliament from Serbia. As a local MP she advocated for an innovative and mission-oriented fiscal policy in the city, which led to the adoption of the principles of gender sensitivity and participatory budgeting. As a result, Šabac was the first city in Serbia to comprehensively involve its citizens in the budgeting process. Katarina contributed to drafting the City's Gender Equality Strategy and co-managed the initiative to make Šabac the first city in Serbia to provide complete funding for vaccination against HPV, one of the most common causes of cancer in Serbia.
