The fourth seminar in the Public Research Seminar series, titled "Communities and Design," is part of the UCL ChangeMakers funded project MRes InterConnect: Bridging Interdisciplinary Communities and Frontline Research. This seminar explores the intricate relationship between community dynamics and urban design. Dr. Pablo Sendra and Dr. Filipa Wunderlich will lead discussions, focusing on how communities influence and are influenced by spatial planning and urban design. The seminar features three engaging talks from: Chloe MacFarlane explores the Railton Low Traffic Neighbourhood, using a Feminist 'Ethics of Care' framework to assess the project's social capital and temporary urbanism initiatives, providing insights into sustainable community-driven urban design; Neil Onions focusing on ‘how do we embed equitable engagement processes into urban development? and What modes of collaborative design can be implemented to ensure we are designing places people want to live, work and play?’. Finally we will also hear from Dr Irene Manzini, on her research around the value of co-working spaces and creative communities hubs
The Research Seminar will take place at 31 Leigh Street, WC1H 9 EP, Thursday 5pm - 7pm.
All are welcome to join the insightful discussion, ask questions, and engage with the speakers. This event will be HYBRID event. If you cannot attend in person, please contact the organisers for Webinar Link.
