Three Bartlett startups recognised at UCL Santander Summer Showcase

At this year’s UCL Santander Summer Showcase, an annual event celebrating UCL's most impactful startups, three startups created by The Bartlett alumni were selected in recognition of their entrepreneurial achievements and contribution to the UCL entrepreneurial ecosystem:

Most impactful on the Sustainable Development Goals award

• BoxxDocks, co-founded by James Della Valle (The Bartlett School of Architecture) and Alessandro Attanzio, helps transport and logistics companies to lower their environmental impact by developing sustainable and ethically sourced delivery boxes as an alternative to single-use, virgin plastic products.   

Hatchery commendations

• Comma Periods, a femtech start-up that focuses on finding personalised solutions to period symptoms. Founded by Bartlett School of Environment, Energy and Resources alumni Martina Ciracceli. 
• International Real Estate Investment Solutions, a real estate brokerage service to Chinese investors. Cofounded by Yujia Hu (Rosa) and Pei-Teng Chen (Benson) 

Speaking at the awards, Professor Geraint Rees, UCL Vice-Provost (Research, Innovation & Global Engagement), said: “Events such as this one underline the strong entrepreneurial spirit running through UCL, and shine a light on just what’s possible when students and alumni with bright ideas are supported to grow.  

“I would like to congratulate all the winners and runners-up from today’s event who’ve impressed us enormously with their enthusiasm and creativity. We look forward to seeing where all of these inspiring businesses go from here and the impact they have on society.”
