Deputy Director

Ala'a Shehabi

Ala'a Shehabi is the Deputy Director of the Institute for Global Prosperity (IGP) and the Data Manager for the RELIEF Centre, which explores conceptions of prosperity in the age of mass displacement. 

Ala'a was a Senior Researcher at the Work Foundation from 2015-2017 focusing on employment, evaluation and diversity, a lecturer on the Bangor University undergraduate programme at BIBF (Bahrain) and an analyst at the RAND Corporation before that. Between 2012-2015 she was a visiting scholar at the Centre for Middle East Studies at Lund University, a consultant at the Issam Fares Institute at the American University of Beirut in Lebanon. She was living and lecturing in the Middle-East during the 2011 "Arab Spring" Uprising.

Recent studies that Ala'a has recently led on employment and evaluatioin include a study into improving female diversity in the legal profession, evaluation of an employment and health initiative in North England and the health of workers in Lebanon. Her research interests lie in the intersection of social and economic policy and development in the Middle-East, prosperity and social justice.

Ala'a received her PhD from Imperial College London in econometrcis, an MSc in Economics and Finance from Warwick University and a BSc in Economics and Statistics from UCL.

Finance Officer

Ben Anderson 

Ben is a Data and Finance Officer at the IGP. He works on data collection, management and analysis with a focus on IGP’s research in East London and the development of the London Prosperity Index as well as supporting the financial administration in the Institute. Prior to working at the IGP, Ben worked with a range of NGOs and community sector organisations, supporting impact evaluation and the use of data and research in their programmes. He holds an MRes in Public Policy from Queen Mary, and a BA in Politics and Philosophy from the University of Leeds.

Administrator (RELIEF Centre)

Andres Vicente

Andres is the RELIEF Centre administrator. He has a background in basic scientific research and management, and holds a PhD from UCL in Cell and Developmental Biology. In his current role, he supports and coordinates all teams and initiatives involved with RELIEF - a multidisciplinary centre for research and learning focused on inclusive growth and prosperity in Lebanon - and assists the IGP Manager as well as the IGP director, Professor Henrietta Moore.

Research and Enterprise Manager

Louise Roberts

As Research and Enterprise Manager at the Institute for Global Prosperity, Louise provides support and guidance for the development of funding proposals for research, knowledge exchange and philanthropic activity.   

Prior to working at UCL she was the Enterprise Manager at SOAS, University of London where her responsibilities included leading on consultancy and customised training programmes, knowledge exchange strategy and oversight of the SOAS Summer School and student enterprise activities. Before working in Higher Education, Louise taught English in five countries and gained several years’ experience in the corporate sector, working in the language training and telecommunications industries. She studied at Swansea University where she gained a BSc in European Business Studies with French and an MPhil in Marketing and Environmentalism.

Research Support Officer

Sarah Nisi

Sarah Nisi is the Research Support Officer at the IGP and provides support on grant and funding administration, research impact and research communications.

Prior to this role she worked in immigration for the Australian High Commission in London, and as European funding specialist at NRW.BANK, a state-owned development bank in Germany.

Sarah holds a degree in Business Law and an MA in Creative Writing.

Projects, Planning and Advocacy Manager

Hannah Sender

Hannah works in Research and Advoacy at IGP. She conducts research in London and Lebanon, and leads on the IGP's adolescent wellbeing research. Hannah leads theCommunity Research in East London working group and coordinates the IGP's Global Citizenship Programme, (Un)Urban: Designing for the green city.

Communications

Media and Communications Officer

Evie Calder

Evie is the IGP Media and Communications Officer. She previously worked in communications for a numebr of NGOs and charities, including C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group, and is the co-founder of sustainable living brand Atlas and Ortus. Evie holds an MA in Transnational Studies from UCL and a BSc in Environmental Economics and Environmental Management from the University of York.

Communications and Impact Officer (RELIEF Centre)

Annelise Andersen

Annelise Andersen is the RELIEF Communications & Impact Officer. Prior to this role she worked in communications and engagement for the Wellcome Trust, UKCDS and a range of arts organisations. Her academic background is in Music and Anthropology. Annelise is responsible for IGP's communications strategy and the communication outputs of RELIEF.
