The Speaker

Madeleine Maxwell, The Engine Room

Madeleine is Research Manager at The Engine Room. She works on projects at the intersection between people, social justice and technology, such as exploring the lived experience of Digital ID users, or the challenges faced by digital security practitioners working in civil society. Before The Engine Room, Madeleine worked in the UK social sector in design and research teams, on projects ranging from building financial resilience among low income single parents, to public engagement with health data sharing in the NHS. The Engine Room The Engine Room has a mission to accelerate social change, and helps activists, organisations, and other social change agents make the most of data and technology to increase their impact. It aims to: (i) increase impact by supporting you in making informed technology and data decisions, (ii) support the effective use of data and technology for people’s empowerment, (iii) cut down on wasteful costs in civil society’s adoption of technology and data.
