During the conference we hope to explore how different ideas ('solutions') to particular problems of debt might be linked together. A number of speakers have recorded short provocations, that discuss existing or potential alternatives to problematic forms of debt and its consequences.

The e-conference will follow many of the conventions of an academic conference, while differing in some ways too. The conference will consist of 6 sessions, each of which is organised around a specific theme:

  1. Institutional change
  2. Rethinking debt distributions
  3. Citizen-led alternatives
  4. Broader levers
  5. Legal challenges
  6. Better advice

Each session contains a number of short presentations that have been recorded. Please watch these presentations before the conference starts. Each presentation lasts for about 5 minutes and offers a specific response to the conference theme.

During the conference itself, we will meet online in a discussion forum. You be able to engage in dialogue with other attendees by posting questions, comments and replies. You will also be able to up vote contributions that other people have posted. The ‘speakers’ (i.e. people who have recorded videos), will also be participating, answering questions, offering clarifications, and making additional points. There will also be a moderator in the unlikely event that any problems occur.
