Life in Sweden

Swedish Food

Sweden’s not exactly famous for its cuisine, and we’re fairly sure the Swedish Chef from the Muppets hasn’t helped!

But there are some, well, let’s say interesting, foods that are pretty unique to Sweden.

  • Köttbullar (meatballs), often served with spaghetti and generous squirts of ketchup
  • Sill (pickled herring), eaten in the summer with potato salad
  • Surströmming (fermented fish in a tin), frankly anyone eating this would be unable to taste any other food afterwards... take a look for yourselves: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Surströmming

There are also some really tasty things: Swedes love their cakes.

Kanelbullar (cinnamon buns), best eaten with a cup of steaming black coffee, or a glass of cold milk.

Princesstårta (princess cake) it’s bright green! It’s full of cream! It’s delicious!
