Lecturer in Astrophysics (Theoretical and/or Observational Astrophysics)

28 January 2020

Lecturer in Astrophysics (Theoretical and/or Observational Astrophysics) - deadline 29th February 2020

UCL invites applications for a lectureship in Astronomy and Astrophysics. We particularly encourage applications in the areas of Multi-messenger/Transient Astronomy. The lecturer will be part of the Astrophysics group and is expected to have an excellent record of academic research and promise for future achievements. The successful candidate is expected to enhance our research programme, to develop new research initiatives and to generate the external income to support them. It is expected that the new appointment will build significantly on UCL’s strong investment and scientific leadership in survey facilities such as DES, DESI, 4MOST, LSST and PFS.

Proven ability to raise funds for their own research (e.g. through a personal fellowship) would be an advantage. The position will also involve participation in the Departmental teaching programme at undergraduate and graduate level.

Located in the centre of London, the Physics and Astronomy department at UCL is one of the leading Physics and Astronomy departments in the UK with a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and research.  It is also one of the largest departments at UCL with +200 staff and +800 undergraduate and postgraduate students.
