Dr Stephanie Schwartz awarded a Leverhulme Trust Research Fellowship

Stephanie Schwartz has been awarded a Leverhulme Trust Research Fellowship to complete ‘The Native and the National: Fascism and Film in the Era of the Deal’, a study of the work of the anti-fascist collective Frontier Films.

Dr Aparna Kumar Awarded 2023 Getty/ACLS Postdoctoral Fellowship

Kumar has been recognised as one of ten outstanding early-career art historians from around the world whose innovative scholarship stands to make substantial and original contributions to the understanding of art and its history. The fellowship includes a $60,000 stipend and an additional $5,000 for travel and research.

Dr Gabriella Nugent, who completed her PhD in 2020, awarded a Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship

Congratulations to UCL History of Art Alumna Gabriella Nugent, who has been awarded a Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship at the University of East Anglia for her project "Making and Unmaking: Contemporary African Artists and the Medium of Sculpture".

Huge congratulations to Levi Prombaum, who was awarded his PhD from UCL History of Art in 2019, and has just been awarded a 2021 Getty/ACLS Postdoctoral Fellowship in the History of Art.

Dr Jacopo Gnisci awarded AHRC-DFG grant for new research project

Congratulations to Dr Jacopo Gnisci who has been awarded an AHRC-DFG grant of roughly €700,000 for the project 'Demarginalizing medieval Africa: Images, texts, and identity in early Solomonic Ethiopia (1270-1527)'

Former UCL HoA Erasmus student Karolina Wilczyńska wins prestigious Fulbright Fellowship

Wilczyńska's Fulbright grant focuses on Mierle Laderman Ukeles’s activity which is considered in terms of the broadly understood relation between art, neoliberalism and the choreography of bodies. Karolina is interested in the co-dependency and interactions between the urban space of New York City and citizens and workers choreography of everyday as well as a concept of waste and garbage in capitalism and the artist’s rethinking of the very idea of a maintenance that links everything together.
