Livestock and Pastoralism in Archaeology

Domesticated animals have been identified in many societies across the world, but rarely have archaeologists considered how the different components of livestock management manifest in archaeology.

Examples and case studies will be drawn from archaeology, but also from anthropology and history. Particular attention will be paid to pastoralism and the course will include a consideration of contemporary issues regarding pastoralist societies.
