Holocaust Memorial Day 2023
26 January 2023
The UCL Institute of Archaeology Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee have collated resources for staff and students to mark Holocaust Memorial Day 2023.
Since 2001, Holocaust Memorial Day has been marked internationally on 27 January each year to remember the six million Jews murdered during the Holocaust, alongside the millions of other people killed under Nazi persecution of other groups and in genocides that followed in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur. The date, 27 January, marks the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi death camp.
Each year, Holocaust Memorial Day has a different theme as a focus for educational and commemorative events. The 2023 theme is Ordinary People.
