Successful PhD defence for Veronica Occari
26 October 2022
Congratulations to Veronica Occari (UCL Institute of Archaeology) who has successfully defended her PhD thesis.
Veronica Occari, whose PhD was supervised by Corisande Fenwick and Ian Freestone, used elemental and isotopic analyses to investigate medieval glass from Venice and its relationship to glass and raw materials from the Levant, exploring the cultural transfer between the Middle East and Italy from the Early Middle Ages to the Renaissance. These centuries represent a period of great cultural exchanges between the East and the West, with the circulation not only of valued goods but of knowledge and technical advances as well.
Veronica undertook her MSc in Archaeological Sciences with us in 2017 before beginning her LAHP-funded PhD research. She passed her PhD viva this week with no corrections.
Veronica will be joining Corisande on excavation in the Moroccan Sahara from next week.
Congratulations Veronica!
