Job Vacancy: Technician in Photographic and Digital Heritage Imaging

The UCL Institute of Archaeology currently has a vacancy for a Technician in Photographic and Digital Heritage Imaging (Ref.: 1883555). The deadline for applications is 20 April 2022.

The UCL Institute of Archaeology was the first institution in the world to establish the tradition of Archaeological Photography. Alongside the development of traditional methods of photography, digital imaging is a major area of current growth and of importance not only for the UCL Institute of Archaeology, but also for our new BA Heritage based at UCL East.

 A Technician in Photographic and Digital Heritage Imaging is sought to to manage the Institute's Photography Studio and support our photography teaching. The post-holder will have responsibility for the day to day running of the Photography studio and supporting photography teaching and research, assisting with producing publication and exhibition images and supporting both museum object and fieldwork photography. The post-holder will also be expected to support research and exhibition projects with advanced digital imaging, photogrammetric modelling and 3D scanning.

The successful candidate will have a degree in Archaeology, Heritage or Photography and/or extensive practical experience as a photographer, preferably in an archaeology or heritage related role. They will have experience of demonstrating/teaching photographic techniques and of working with museum objects and on archaeological sites. The successful candidate will also have knowledge of 3D object scanners, photogrammetric modelling techniques and associated software.
