TAG 2019 @UCL-IoA: Call for Sessions

27 February 2019

The UCL Institute of Archaeology will organise the 41st annual Theoretical Archaeology Group (TAG) Conference in December 2019 for which the Call for Sessions is now open.

The theme for TAG 2019 will be 'Power, Knowledge and the Past.' Session proposals are now invited for TAG@UCL-IoA, with the deadline for submissions being 30 April 2019. Please send proposals to tag2019@ucl.ac.uk.

The conference theme is intended to be broad and topical, emphasising both current debates about ontologies and ideologies in past societies, and the role of knowledge about the past in contemporary political narratives, particularly those to do with different aspects of identity, and including such issues as decolonisation. Sessions are therefore welcomed which explicitly address any aspect of these issues, though session proposals are also welcomed which do not seek to align with this theme. Comparative sessions across time, region, and/or disciplinary specialisation are encouraged.

The Theoretical Archaeology Group (TAG) was founded as a national body in 1979 with the aim of promoting debate and discussion of issues in theoretical archaeology. Its principal activity is the promotion of an annual conference, traditionally held in December and organised so as to be accessible at low cost to research students and others.

TAG 2019 will be hosted in association with:
