Dust to Dust: Redesigning Urban Life in Healthy Soils

30 November 2018

A new exhibition, resulting from the international AHRC-funded Pre-Colombian Tropical Urban Life (TruLife) research network, involving Elizabeth Graham, opens today at the University of East Anglia.

Dust to Dust: Redesigning Urban Life in Healthy Soils (exhibition flyer)

The goal of the TruLife network was to explore what contributions Pre-columbian tropical urban lifeways (particularly neotropical) can make to sustainable urban futures.

Dust to Dust: Redesigning Urban Life in Healthy Soils began as an urban design ideas competition issued by the network for sustainable urban futures.  Teams from several countries were selected to collaboratively develop their proposals for urban development.

Taking inspiration from basic principles of urban design practiced by the ancient Maya, the relationship between soil management and urban life is given centre stage in schemes that inspire to improve the long-term sustainability of cities worldwide.

The exhibition, on display in the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts, UEA will run until 17February 2019.
