About the Speaker

Dr Matthew Pope

Associate Professor (Teaching) in Palaeolithic Archaeology and Principal Research Fellow at UCL Institute of Archaeology/Archaeology South-East

Matthew Pope

Matthew Pope is Associate Professor (Teaching) in Palaeolithic archaeology at the UCL Institute of Archaeology, He is currently leading on excavations at the Neanderthal site of La Cotte de St Brelade, Jersey, as well as further Palaeolithic excavations in southern Britain and the Channel Islands.

His practice bridges projects driven by research questions as well as those undertaken directly in response to construction and climate change impacts. In this area he provides expertise and capacity within UCL Archaeology South-East's specialist Palaeolithic and Geoarchaeology team.
