The 24th Annual Conference of the British Association for Biological Anthropology and Osteoarchaeology will be hosted by the UCL Institute of Archaeology from 15-17 September.

Formed in 1998, the British Association for Biological Anthropology and Osteoarchaeology (BABAO) promotes the study of biological (or physical) anthropology for the purpose of understanding the physical development of the human species from the past to the present, providing a forum for discussion and intellectual exchange for professionals and students in all areas of biological anthropology.

The 2023 conference, organised by the UCL Institute of Archaeology, will be held at the nearby Mary Ward House Conference Centre from 15-17 September. Early registration is now open and will close on 31 July 2023. 

BABAO 2023 conference sessions will include Human remains and the museum; Biomolecular applications to Bioarchaeological questions; New Horizons in Palaeopathology: Papers in honour of Prof Tony Waldron; Social Bioarchaeology of the 21st Century; Forensic Anthropology: Strengthening the discipline in the UK as well as an Open Session where all topics are welcome.
