The theme of this year's conference is 'Power, Knowledge and the Past'.  The theme is intended to be broad and topical, emphasising both current debates about ontologies and ideologies in past societies, and the role of knowledge about the past in contemporary political narratives, particularly those to do with different aspects of identity, and including such issues as decolonisation.

The Antiquity sponsored Plenary Session entitled 'What is the past good for in the world of 2020?' will take place on 16 December 2019.
