Allegory & Illusion

Professor Christopher Pinney will be in conversation with the film director Mira Nair at the Rubin Museum of Art, New York City, Wednesday November 20, 2013 @ 7:00 PM.

On the occasion of the current Rubin Museum exhibition Allegory and Illusion: Early Portrait Photography in South Asia (for which Pinney has written the lead catalogue essay) Pinney and the film director Mira Nair examine photographs from the exhibition Allegory and Illusion: Early Portrait Photography from South Asia. Together they try and piece together what information a photograph is able to tell us and what is being left out of the frame.
