Shodona Kettle to co-chair Haiti event at UCL Centre for the Study of Legacies of British Slavery

Haiti Now and Then

UCL Americas PhD student Shodona Kettle will act as co-moderator, together with Professor Matthew J Smith (UCL History and director of UCL CSLBS) at an upcoming event on Haiti co-organised by the UCL Centre for the Study of Legacies of British Slavery (CSLBS) and Haiti Support Group (HSG). At this event, titled 'Haiti Now and Then' a panel of experts will consider and discuss recent events in and related to Haiti in the context of the country's long history. This event is scheduled to take place online on October 22 2021, starting at 18:30. More information and registration details via this link. Shodona Kettle
Shodona completed her Globalisation and Latin American Development MSc at UCL Institute of the Americas in 2013. She is currently pursuing her PhD studies at UCL Institute of the Americas under the supervision of Dr Kate Quinn and Dr Par Engstrom. Her research project, Reparative histories and healing contemporaries: A comparative investigation into transnational movements for reparations in the Americas pursues a comparative analysis of reparations movements in Haiti, Colombia, and Ecuador, encompassing geographic and historical comparisons, allowing for the identification of patterns and intricate connections between the local, global and transnational. She is Chair of the Haiti Support Group
