Academic Departments by Faculty


UCL's research and teaching is organised within a network of faculties and academic departments.

Faculties and academic departments are formally established by Council, the governing body of UCL, on the advice of Academic Board, which is UCL's senior academic authority. These formally established academic units are listed here.

In order to facilitate greater interdisciplinary interaction in research and teaching, we have also recently introduced a model of strategic faculty groupings, with three new schools covering:

The list below includes the various academic units operating within each of these schools. These units include, as well as the established faculties and departments, a range of other, less formal academic groupings based within academic departments or operating as distinct academic entities within faculties. Our work also transcends the boundaries between academic subjects and departments: selected institutes and centres (both physical and virtual) which exemplify our interdisciplinary collaboration are shown at research themes.
