Application Process

Here are the stages you can expect from our recruitment process.

1. Apply online

You can search for vacancies across UCL and apply online through the UCL jobsite. Our job site allows you to save and return to your application, and once you submit your application you will receive an email acknowledgement. You can also register for alerts to keep up to date with the latest job opportuities.

Top tip: Read the full Job Description and Person Specification and make sure your application explains how your experience matches this.

2. How we shortlist candidates

Your application will be reviewed* against the criteria outlined in the Person Specification by a UCL selection panel; and applicants who best match the criteria will be shortlisted for interview. Following the selection panel's shortlisting process you will receive notification on the outcome of your application.

*Did you know all UCL selection members are required to complete a Fair and Inclusive Recruitment training to ensure an equitable recruitment experience.

3. Your interview

If you’re shortlisted you'll be invited to attend an interview (online or in person) with a UCL selection panel. This may include undertaking any selection tests – for example giving a presentation.

We want you to do your best at interview. Please visit the candidate selection guidance document for further details on how you can prepare for your UCL interview.

Following the interview you will receive notification on the outcome of your interview and receive feedback on your interview.

If you're unsuccessful at this stage, we encourage you to register for UCL job alerts and explore new opportunities as soon as they're available.

4. Your job offer

If you have been successful, you will receive an email with your conditional offer of employment. Once this is accepted you can agree your start date.

We'll carry out the pre-employment screening (including reference and other checks such as DBS if applicable). Once the checks have been completed we will issue your contract for an online signature and onboarding paperwork, these should be returned before your start date.

5. Welcome to UCL

You will receive your induction details ahead of joining and on Day 1 you'll receive full support through your induction and the start of your UCL journey.
