This lecture will explore the concept of ‘university urbanism’, considering the challenges and opportunities which universities face in their Interactions with urban neighbourhoods and cities. It will present UCL Urban Laboratory research in this field, with a particular focus on its collaborations with universities abroad (Gothenburg, Roma Tre, and UNIFESP, São Paulo), exploring models for evaluating university-city relationships, and describe Urban Lab’s academic involvement in the development of UCL East.
