This year, UCL Urban Laboratory has been conducting research on LGBTQI nightlife spaces in London since 1986. As we prepare to document the findings to send to the Mayor of London and Greater London Authority, this event will inform the conversation about a utopian vision for the city's diverse queer
nightlife.
- Which nightlife spaces are important to London's LGBTQI communities and why?
- What does the profile of London's LGBTQI nightlife look like over the past 30 years?
- What are the successes and, where venues have closed, why is this?
- What can be done to support LGBTQI nightlife and venues in the future?
Dan Beaumont (Dalston Superstore), DJ Ritu (Club Kali), Lyall Hakaraia (Vogue Fabrics Dalston) will all tell us a story about the making of London's nightlife, facilitated by Dr Sharon Husbands.
Organised by Dr Ben Campkin and Laura Marshall for UCL Urban Laboratory, in association with Raze Collective and Queer Spaces Network.
To attend, RSVP at nightscenes.eventbrite.co.uk.
The event venue and room is accessible and refreshments will be provided.
