Based on two years of urban research through the 'lab' as an innovative institutional intermediary, this talk from Dr. Anant Maringanti will outline the challenges of engaging with non-academic stakeholders at different stages of research.
Anant Maringanti is
Executive Director of Hyderabad Urban Lab, an innovative urban research initiative to bring together spatial
data technologies and social sciences to bear on the concrete challenges of
contemporary cities in India and elsewhere. He is also an urban geographer with wide ranging expertise in leading multi
disciplinary research and education.
Respondents
Myfanwy Taylor (UCL Geography) will offer some reflections drawing on her experiences with the Just Space Economy Group which has amongst other activities produced London for all! A handbook for community and small business groups fighting to retain workspace for London's diverse economies.
Susan Parnell (African Centre for Cities and Department of Environment and Geography, University of Cape Town; visiting Professor at Institute of Commonwealth Studies, University of London) will comment drawing on her experiences with ACC's "City Lab" programme which facilitates the co-production of policy-relevant knowledge related to urban poverty and the ways in which it is experienced in the greater Cape Town city region.
