Making Your Application

Entry criteria

A minimum of a second-class bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline from a UK university, or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard is required. At least two years of industrial experience is preferred. Candidates must also meet UCL's English language proficiency requirements (UCL 'Good' level is the minimum).

What are we looking for?

When we assess your application we would like to learn:

  • why you want to study systems engineering management at postgraduate level
  • why you want to study systems engineering management at UCL
  • what particularly attracts you to your chosen qualification
  • how your academic and professional background meets the demands of this challenging programme
  • where you intend your degree, diploma or certificate to take you in your professional career

Who can apply?

The programme is targeted at relatively experienced individuals working in industry and who are supported by their employer. Students come from a range of careers including specialist design, engineering management, business development, production and support engineering and include technical project managers and engineering team leaders. Independent students with appropriate industrial experience will also be considered.

When to apply?

UCL has a university wide application deadline that applies to entry for the upcoming academic year. However, those applying for scholarship funding or visas should take note of these other application deadlines, which typically will be much earlier than UCL's.

Full time students on the programme will study for a full calendar year, aligned with the UCL academic year that starts in September.  Part-time students will study for two calendar years.
