Sustainable UCL
For two weeks each year, thousands of individuals, companies and groups across the UK come together to share the stories of the people who grow Fairtrade food and drinks, and the cotton in our clothes.
As a Fairtrade University, UCL is proud to take part in the celebrations. As restrictions are ever-changing, for Fairtrade Fortnight 2022 there will be many activities online that you can get involved in, as well as opportunities on campus!
Focus for 2022
The focus for Fairtrade Fortnight 2022 is Choose the World You Want, emphasising the need for us to increase the pressure for action on climate justice.

Registration opens in late January, and you can sign up now to be the first to know about Fairtrade Fortnight's upcoming events.
Throughout Fairtrade Fortnight the festival will feature:
- Farmers and workers from around the world explaining why they need to earn more to survive a climate crisis that is already hurting their communities
- Discussions between farmers, other experts and famous faces about what we need to do to choose a better future
- Music, art and entertainment, from all corners of our passionate and talented global Fairtrade community
- Fun interactive workshops on sustainable living here in the UK
- Webinar: The Pedagogy of Chocolate
In this webinar, Bob Manteaw will explore the use of chocolate as a teaching and learning resource in global learning and sustainability education.
This seminar is being held to coincide with the Fairtrade Foundation's 'Choose the World you Want' festival, held to mark the annual Fairtrade Fortnight (21 Feb - 6 Mar) - 2 weeks of activity around social, economic and environmental justice. This connection reflects a continuing relationship between the foundation and DERC which has resulted in a report and a seminar that looked at the work of the Foundation in UK schools.
