Annotation can be used to keep track of your thinking as you read something. We also use annotation to tune into a text more efficiently, and as a feedback system to ‘eavesdrop’ on other peoples’ ideas. This project develops an idea of ‘spatial annotations’, asking how we can capture the reactions, moods, emotions and decisions of people experiencing the city, and why these may be worth capturing.
We are bringing together industry experts and researchers to explore what it means to ‘Annotate the City’. In an interactive guided tour around Euston Station, participants will be asked to engage in a spatial annotation process using photographs and note-taking to capture reactions to the urban landscape. The tour will be followed by a panel-lead discussion to reflect on the tour; to consider how we can move towards a more holistic and inclusive policy and planning framework, develop models of community engagement and consultation, and encourage people to be alert to their position in the city.
No photography experience necessary but please bring a camera or smartphone (with battery & storage space)
