Dr Ricardo Silva awarded a 2016 Research Catalyst Award for work on distance-learning technologies

Dr Ricardo Silva and Dr Soong Kang (UCL School of Management) have been given one of the 2016 UCL Research Catalyst Awards, which aim to foster collaboration between UCL and universities in Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Mexico.
Dr Silva and Dr Kang will co-organize a two-day seminar in July at Universidade Federal do Ceara (UFC), Fortaleza, Brazil. The seminar will include short tutorials on machine learning and quantitative social sciences. It will also include talks and meetings on the distance-learning infrastructure of UFC, how the data generated can be used to provide a better understanding of the needs of students and how statistical research can help with it.
