STAT0019 Bayesian Methods in Health Economics

Module description

This module aims to provide a practical introduction to Bayesian analysis and Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) methods using the R statistical computing software environment and MCMC sampling software (such as BUGS or JAGS), as applied to cost-effectiveness analysis and the typical models used in health economic evaluations.

Prerequisite knowledge

STAT0019 is primarily intended for students within the Department of Statistical Science (including the MASS programmes). The academic prerequisite for these students, in addition to their (other) compulsory modules, is STAT0008.

For outside students, the following module is considered a sufficient alternative prerequisite: STAT0039

Registration process

STAT0019 is specified as a formal option within the MSc Health Economics and Decision Science programme. Students from this programme who have taken the alternative prerequisite module listed above should simply register for STAT0019 on Portico and await a decision.

STAT0019 is NOT offered as an elective.
