Change my password (I have forgotten my password)

If you have forgotten your UCL password, this guide will show you what you need to do to reset it.

Before you start

You will need your UCL user ID.

If you already know that your phone is registered for password management you can jump straight to step 3:

1. Find out whether my phone is already registered for password management It's easy to check whether you are registered for password management on your mobile phone...

Visit myaccount.ucl.ac.uk/registerphone and enter your UCL user ID and your password and click 'Submit'.

If your number is already registered, you will see a notice in red at the top of the page.

The notice reads: ‘You already have a phone number that ends in xxxxx. Registering a new phone number will replace the existing number’.

2. Is your phone registered? Steps to follow whether you have or haven't previously registered your phone:

If you have already registered your phone, go to step 3.

If you have not registered your phone, go to step 4.

3. Reset my password using a phone token You need to get a code sent to your mobile phone before you can reset your password.

Go to myaccount.ucl.ac.uk/resetpw.
Enter your UCL user ID.
Enter the last five digits of your mobile number.
Click 'Submit'.
The form will change and you will receive a code on your mobile phone.
Enter the code from your phone and your new chosen password following the guidelines for creating a strong password.
Confirm your password and click ‘Submit’.

Your password has now been changed.

4. Visit the ISD IT Services (help desk) If you are unable to reset your password online then you will need to visit the IT Services (help desk) in person.

The IT Services (help desk) is on campus at the locations below. If you cannot visit in person, contact servicedesk@ucl.ac.uk for help.
