Dr Urszula Chowaniec

Dr Chowaniec is a specialist in Polish literature and language. She holds the post of Polish Language Senior Teaching Fellow at University College London School of Slavonic and East European Studies. She teaches Polish language with elements of translation and introduction to Polish culture.

She is also a visiting Associate Professor
(doctor habilitowana) at Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Kraków University, where is
teaches rhetoric, contemporary literature and popular culture. Her latest
monograph is on women’s writing and notion of melancholy and displacement Melancholic Migrating Bodies in Contemporary
Polish Women’s Writing (2015).
She has co-edited and contributed to Women’s Voices: Feminism and Gender in Polish Cultural Memory (2012), Mapping Experience on Polish and Russian Women’s Writing (, 2010), Masquerade and Femininity. Essays on Polish and Russian Women Writers (2008).
