Research summary

My research focus is on the history of the Romanians and the Romanian state.  In the last few years I have published a number of articles on the Romanian Legionary Movement. Most recently, I co-edited a book entitled  In the Shadow of Hitler: Personalities of the Right in Central and Eastern Europe published by IB Tauris. I am continuing to work on various aspect of the history of the Romanian Legionary Movement and on the histories of Romania and the Republic of Moldova.

Recent MPhil/PhD supervision topics include: 'The impact of Christian Orthodoxy on the doctrine of the Iron Guard' and 'The Role of Anti-semitism in the Ideology of the Legion of the Archangel Michael’.
