What brought to you work at SSEES?

I came to work at SSEES because of the very friendly and professional SSEES society.

Can you describe your role and tell us what you find most rewarding about it?

My role at the UCL School of Slavonic and East European Studies involves being the first contact of the school. I have to provide first-class customer service to the UCL clients arriving and leaving the school and ensure the facilities are functioning normally. The most rewarding thing about my role is receiving positive compliments from the UCL clients I serve day in and day out.

What has been your most memorable career moment so far?

The most memorable career moment so far is when we held a high-profile event in the SSEES building involving the Provost and international dignitaries. The following day, a staff member from the Provost’s office hand-delivered a thank you card and chocolates for the service rendered. More recently, an e-card was sent to me with very positive compliments from the SSEES staff. This allowed me to express my sincere gratitude for the appreciation for my service at SSEES.

Outside of work, how do you unwind?

Outside of work, I like to have a nice time with my family of three kids: Brenda, Fiona and Dennis. Taking them out twice a month, enjoying football and doing voluntary union work.

If you could recommend only one book, what would it be?

If I were to recommend one book it would be 'Things Fall Apart' by Chinua Achebe which is about the colonization of Africa.

Who has been the greatest source of inspiration to you, and how have they impacted you, personally or professionally?

My greatest inspiration is Martin Luther King. Never stop moving forward. "If you cannot fly, run. If you cannot run, walk. If you cannot walk, crawl but never stop moving forward.”

Tell us something about you that might surprise people.

I am a graduate of Makerere University (Uganda) Bachelor of Arts (Social Science) majoring in Economics and Social Administration. I did hotel management here in the UK and I am also a qualified hotel front office manager.
