Dr Iandolo Amongst ASEEES 2023 Prize Winners

The Association for Slavic, East European and Eurasian Studies (ASEEES) has proudly announced the recipients of their 2023 prize winners, recognising outstanding contributions to the field.

Alessandro Iandolo, Lecturer in Soviet/Post-Soviet History from SSEES has secured a double win for his groundbreaking book. Alessandro’s work, titled “Arrested Development: The Soviet Union in Ghana, Guinea, and Mali, 1955-1968” has won two significant awards:

  • Marshall Shulman Book Prize for an outstanding monograph dealing with the international relations, foreign policy, or foreign-policy decision-making of any of the states of the former Soviet Union or Eastern Europe. 
  • W. Bruce Lincoln Book Prize for an author’s first published monograph or scholarly synthesis that is of exceptional merit and lasting significance for the understanding of Russia’s past.
