SSEES student Andrea Tortella becomes Laidlaw scholar

16 March 2023

Congratulations to SSEES first-year student Andrea Tortella, who has received a Laidlaw scholarship

Andrea

Congratulations to SSEES first-year student Andrea Tortella, who has received a Laidlaw scholarship to research the economic costs of homelessness. The Laidlaw Undergraduate Research and Leadership Scholarship programme aims to develop a new generation of leaders who are skilled researchers, embrace data-based decision making, and believe it is a moral imperative to lead with integrity. Currently a first year student in Politics & Sociology, Andrea’s research is entitled 'At what cost ? The socioeconomic impact of rough sleeping on the private and public sector'. With the homelessness crisis at alarming levels, his research will shed light on the implicit and explicit costs of homelessness for the public and private sector by evidencing its impact on all spheres of society.  Prof Slavo Radosevic, Professor of Industry and Innovation Studies, was pleased to help Andrea with his application and will be his supervisor.
