Director's message on the shootings in Prague

On behalf of the SSEES community, I would like to express my sorrow at the shocking events that took place yesterday (21 December) at Charles University in Prague, where a student killed 14 people and injured a further 25. Charles University is one of SSEES’s closest partners and for decades our staff and students have been frequent visitors to the university, including to the buildings in which the shootings took place. I would like to express my deepest condolences to the families of those who were killed.

I also wish to convey my concern for any of our students affected by the attack. Please reach out to your personal tutor and/or to UCL’s Student Support and Wellbeing team. Services are available to students over the winter break and linked below. These are open to all students.
