Call for papers: SLOVO Journal

6 July 2022

SLOVO journal call for submissions poster

This issue will be concerned with marginalised subjects, cultures, and positionalities in the region. We welcome submissions which treat this theme from the vantage point of various academic disciplines — from history and politics to literature and anthropology. We deliberately leave this theme open-ended since we are open to the multifarious ways in which prospective authors interpret it.

In addition to research papers (approximately 7000 words in length), we encourage book and film review submissions (approximately 700 words), translation of literature and scholarship unpublished in the English language, as well as original poetry inspired by both our theme and the region.

On behalf of our Editors, please find below some film and book suggestions for this special issue of Slovo:

FILMS:

  • Plemya [trans. Tribe] (2014) by Myroslav Slaboshpytskiy
  • Evge [trans. Homeward] (2019) by Nariman Aliev
