Prof Richard Butterwick-Pawlikowski named the joint winner of the 2021 Oskar Halecki Polish Award

Congratulations to Prof Richard Butterwick-Pawlikowski, Professor of Polish-Lithuanian History, who has been named by the Polish Institute of Arts and Sciences of America as the joint winner of the 2021 Oskar Halecki Polish and East Central European History Award for his book 'The Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth 1733-1795: Light and Flame' (Yale University Press, 2020). 

PIASA awards were inaugurated in 1995 to honor distinguished scholars and scientists for their scholarly achievements. The awards, named for renowned founding members of the Institute, are given in the fields of history (The Oskar Halecki Polish and East Central European History Award), sociology (The Bronislaw Malinowski Social Science Award), natural science (The Casimir Funk Natural Science Award), applied sciences (The Tadeusz Sendzimir Applied Sciences Award), humanities (The Waclaw Lednicki Award). There is also The Ludwik Krzyzanowski Polish Review Award. The PIASA Distinguished Achievement Award was created in 2007. The award diplomas is presented at a special awards ceremony.
