SSEES Introduces Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Pages

15 November 2021

BAME Support

We have launched new pages focusing on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI). These include information on BAME support, LGBTQ+, support & wellbeing, family-friendly working, disability and gender.

Working at the crossroads of many diverse cultures, languages, and ethnic and national identities, we at SSEES value and celebrate differences of all kinds. Proud of UCL’s longstanding commitment to egalitarian values, we acknowledge that, like many institutions, UCL nonetheless continues in many ways to reflect the same structural inequalities that plague wider society. The School is committed to positive action on the path toward a more inclusive university and society.  We are working to build a welcoming, fair and accessible environment for all students and staff regardless of gender, race,  sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, age, religion and belief. We aim to learn from the students and staff who study and work here, and we welcome all feedback to make SSEES a more inclusive place of study and work. At present, we are currently working on an application for an Athena Swan bronze award.

The department has an EDI Committee, which is responsible for overseeing Equality, Diversity and Inclusion activities and initiatives in the department. We are always looking for ways to make SSEES more inclusive, so if you have any ideas or suggestions please feel free to get in touch with the current EDI Committee chair, Dr Olga Voronina.
